Hi you all,
July 10th is the day we talked about having everyone post voices again - as it was so much fun before. As that is a week from today, thought I'd better check to see who's up for it.
I think maybe ril, paca, phoenix, freddie and a few others may join this time, right?
And if you don't have a blog, feel free to post your PodBean or YouTube or whatever, here on the day. If you have a blog, pop a note on the post next week that it's ready so we can come and have a listen.
Here's the question- Whirl had a cool idea about doing a voice exchange- where we'd read each other's work.
We just need to know whether you all want to do that this time or do one more of our own voices, and exchange in mid-August.
The only reason to wait would be to hear the voices we haven't heard, read their own prose, but it doesn't matter either way.
What do you think? And, are you in for voices next week?

I'm game for this one, me duck.
Is your intention that we all YouTube/Podbean ourselves up and post you the codes to host here at thereish in time for the 10th?
Or have you some other fiendish plan?
Either way, this promises to be a blossoming of literary prowess to rival William Shatner tattooing JIM on Bones' dick.
Unfortunately, I don't have any recording devices. I'm sure that will change once I start school, but that won't be until December.
I'm up for next week, sounds fun.
I'm in, if at all possible. Finishing a book and my sister-in-law is getting married the eleventh. Still, I should be able to.
I'd like to do it. I can probably only manage a crappy video again but it would be fun. I don't mind what we read.
I am so totally in. And this time I'll shave and have better lighting.
I would love to do something like this but don't think I have the skill to pull it off. Plus, I'd need a much bigger, um, cast. You know. More people.
I don't have an opinion one way or the other for swapping work or reading our own. I think I'll do more reading of my own work in the future anyway, so I could go either way.
I'm in. No strong feelings on content. Mine, somebody else's; I'll go with the flow.
I'll see if I can find a recording device around here. I'm one of those technology knowledgeable people who doesn't actually own much technology. Put me down as tentative.
Kiersten, you have so confused me. my sister-in-law is getting married the eleventh -- doesn't her being your sister-in-law mean she's married to your brother? Or have I been too long sleep deprived?
I am confused. But I've been away and suffering so I'm excused. What are you doing and what do I have to do to get in on the fun? Keeping in mind my technological infirmity, please.
Phoenix, my husband's sister is my sister-in-law (actually I have five). So, his little sister is getting married, and lots of family will be here (that's what happens when you marry into a family of eleven. And that's before the kids get married and start having babies...)
Well, I can do this, but I've got nothing to read of mine as I've never written much other than an EE continuation. Still if people would like to hear my amazing voice, just tell me what to do.
Great, you all -
If OK with everyone else- let's do it this way:
1.On the 10th, post a YouTube, a PodBean, whatever, a recording of your voice on your blogs reading your writing, and put a note on a post I'll have up on that day, when yours is ready- so we know to go look.
2. If you don't have a blog and you can do a recording, send me the 'whatever-it's-called thing, and I'll put it on here.
3. Ello- for info on how to do- and to see who had a voice post last time to go and listen to - just check for my earlier post that says "I'm reading you a story, sort of" -- Whirl has good instructions in the comments on how to do a PodBean. I did a YouTube (or really, Blonie did it for me - all I did was read).
Hope this helps and you can play!
4. Why don't we all do this again in August and do what Whirl suggested, and exchange our writing to read aloud? Kind of like a crazy gift exchange.
5. For those of you who don't have voice thingies yet, hope you still come and 'have a listen' around!
I will have to wait and see. We're staying in SF an extra day since Deb got sick last night. Hopefully she'll be well enough to travel tomorrow.
A good friend on the SCBWI-LA board, Sue Alexander, passed away suddenly a few nights ago and I will be attending her funeral on Monday. Life is far too short. It feels very odd to be the last person to receive the Sue Alexander Service and Encouragement award directly from Sue.
I've been snowed under recently but I am told we have a multitude of options for recording and so I'll get something done quickly.
If we do the exchange thing, just match me with Pacatrue and we can trade EE posts ;)
Hi Robin,
It turns out my roommate has a microphone on his computer, so if I can figure out how to work his PC, I'm in.
Just realized I told you a few days ago that I was to start school in December right here in the comments. I meant September. Oops - sorry! Don't know what I was thinking would happen in December.
Hey Sarah,
Hope you had a wonderful honeymoon! If you can't post, no worries. I'm sure we'll do it again.
Hey Sylvia,
So glad you can do this! I don't think we're gonna switch off this time. We'll read our own one more time, and play later on in the summer with the switiching, OK?
Hi freddie-
Great about both things - I'm relieved it's September not December, so you can get going on school, and I'm so glad you can do the voice!
Darling baby boy came over and installed the recording stuff. I just need to record and go back and re-read how to save etc.
That being said, my voice sucketh. If you heard a distinctly deep male voice, could you pretend it is Julie and not boy-child?
I'd like to play but not 100% sure this time around: still taking antibiotics to clear up a respiratory tract infection.
Currently my voice sounds like the bastard child of Darth Vader and Marge Simpson. So, pretty much back to normal.
I wonder — how many steps away are we from becoming the a capella band from hell?
I'm out of the studio now and will post first thing tomorrow.
Hey, Jules-
Glad you're in!
I'll put up a post where you guys can either send me the URL or whayver the hell it's called and I'll add it to the post here - so your voices are on- or-please just pop a note on when yours is on your blog- OK?
This will be fun. Can't wait to hear you all.
Hi ril,
Darth Vader, huh?
I think you may be onto something, Whirl - at least with the band from hell part.
I did my best to relax and speak in my own voice - not stilted - not fast- and I think I made it.
Which turned out to be...disconcerting, in and as a manner of speaking.
