Pics tonight...words tomorrow.

Sorry - too sleepy for coherence.

Short version: We had a good and long weekend in Cymru.
Long version: when I'm awake.

Three of our girls, walking to JB's party.

The venue, overlooking the Bristol Channel.

Woods near Castle Combe, in Wiltshire, England, where we stopped on Monday after leaving Wales, on the way to Heathrow.

Our table at The Inn in Castle Combe.

Turns out, the village was the site for the filming of much of Dr. Doolittle (the Rex Harrison version), and many others.

There were lots of reasons why.

I know, I know. Life isn't this perfect. But sometimes, visiting a physically perfect place feels necessary in a very basic way, maybe in order to see for yourself in a large picture way that striving actually works sometimes.

Anyway, more tomorrow.

Looks gorgeous. Is that village Laycock? (If you though Dongle was funny - what do you make of that one?)
I'll be back later for the run down.

I particularly love that picture of the garden gate. I love walled gardens.

Thanks, Whirl. He had a big time.

Hey, Janey - no, not Laycocl - Castle Combe. But I have 'done Laycock' with JB a long time ago, so I know what you mean. And it is a scream - you're right about that, too, with the dongles and the Laycocks and the Dickslade Road (in Mumbles). Talk about subtext!

Hi FH,

It really was idyllic. Perfect word for it! And I was surprised, somehow, to see that people actaully lived there. There was a furniture maker who owned a small workshop there. I was jealous of his space and his time spent in that place.

I'm with you, WW. I love walled gardens as well.

Hey, Jan - me, too. We have it all over our back fence around our patio - but it's already bloomed!

I can't help but think your girls will be the talk of the town for months! :)

I think I'd rather have been where you were. You can have Vegas in my place. One is unequivocally peaceful; the other... not so much.

Hey Sylvia,

Some guys from London (they said) tried to pick the girls up when they walked out of the bar for fresh air about 10:00 pm - when they came back inside, it made for a good story!

Hi Pete,

Yeah - but desert is good, too! Although I get ya, the venue is important - The Strip versus a little desert inn somewhere.

Hi paca,

It's my favorite photo of the place. Glad you like it!
