Happy New Year

Indefinite hiatus hereby ensuing on this blog. (Heh. Sounds like a partial reading from the end of the minutes to some lawyer-y get-together.)

I'm thinking about how to use this place moving forward, because I like it here. It's comfortable. But it's also time-consumptive when I 'do right by it', and I just don't have that kind of time right now.

Happy New Year, and here's to us all getting to our goals.

Happy New Year, Robin!

You could leave a post for comments - a virtual scribble board for people to leave you messages.

Also, it's a nice place for photographs, for those that you'd like to share.

I don't think it matters too much whether a site like this is kept up to date but it's nice to have somewhere for people to "find" you.

Yeah. I'm there, too. Not sure where I'm going from here, but my time is so limited right now and I need to be writing / editing.

Happy New Year and all that!

Thanks, you all, and back at ya!

I'm definitely gonna keep the blog even though it's on hold for a while, Sylvia. You're right!

It will just hover here for some time, until I can come back to it.

Happy New Year.

And isn't indefinite hiatus a karate move?

Just get your ass over to my place at least twice a day and I'll forgive you.

Oh, yes, and happy new year and all.

No worries McK. I'm addicted to being over at your place at least twice a day.

And I use my specialized karate move to pop over The Abyss as well!

I'm mulling over keeping this blog and using it when (Robin said, with New Year's-ish conviction) my novel is published...

Ah, just got back from two weeks of family time, both in the UK and Japan, with little to no internet access. It was like an episode of "How We Used To Live". Apparently we used to eat more.

Hope good things happen to all in 2010!

Hey ril,

I've been wondering where you were, and hoped you were all right!

Sounds like you need to recover from both too much food and too little internet - the double bane of holiday 'existence', huh?

ril said...

Not just too much food, but too much unhealthy English "comfort food" that I can't get in Japan. What's the safe intake limit on pork pies and Scotch eggs, anyway?

A boatload, ril my man, if you drink enough red wine.

Blogging if you're a writer is kind of strange. Either it's a "what's up my left nostril" report (ok, maybe not literally, but you know what I mean), or a "what's going on with my writing career" report (which in my case is NOTHING, so makes for rather boring posts, but in any case the one thing it *can't* be is whatever you're actual writing, because published on a blog is still published, right? Sometimes there just isn't enough time to write it all.

Good luck, Robin. I'll keep a lookout for you :)

Hi,MR!

I'll see you at EE's and here and your place.

Blogging as a writer was a good thing for me - I've made good friends with the same driving need to be heard through the written word, and this is wonderful. I'm torn six ways from Sunday with commitments right now - almost finished with the novel, a few stories published, but I want more, a full-time job with a ten hour per week commute (2 hours a day total x 5 days), a 17 year old who's in the middle of college applications, a husband who travels, an addition being built on the house, and on and on, in smaller ways. The way we all are, I suspect, in our respective lives.

So since I have other places to visit and still hang out with everyone, there ya go!

Happy new year and happy hiatus. I do hope you post 'what's going on with me' sorts of posts, here and there. It's hard to follow a blog comment conversation when you use google reader.

I understand how blogging and doing right by your forum can eat your time. It certainly does mine! If I couldn't do it while (on break) at work, I wouldn't be posting regularly at all. Likewise the reading of blog friend blogs eats a ton of time. I don't know if I can keep it up indefinitely, but this is my community of like-minded friends and I want to participate. The thing is, writing time suffers.

Hey WW,

I'll see you over at McKoala's.

And for anyone else reading the comments, McK has a good contest going - runs the entire year, to help us all get to our writing goals. Go sign up!

HEY I had an idea for a voice post - what if we tried to do each other's accents?

(OK, I was just singing Henry the Eighth and apparently I make Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent sound almost passable - but it was funny and fun)

Robin B. said...

I'm SO up for that, Sylvia! Want me to pop on a post about it?

Haven't been here for a while. Should I even leave a meaningless comment like this? too late...

I'm just wondering how the writing is going.

Thanks for checking, FH - you're such a sweetie. I'm almost there with my manuscript. I'm hoping to be able to send out in May.

I'm glad you're getting there. It will be so exciting once you start sending it out.
