Paca's Voice Thingy

This time, my kitchen is hosting the reading for me. Pull up a chair, please, and have a listen to a story about a girl's Aunt Sylvie, in one of her nicer moments.

Woman, you could read the telephone directory and make it sound exciting. I just love your voice.

The excerpt is great, so evocative. I can feel the warmth of the sun and just about feel the tomato juice running down my chin.

And bonus! The aunt's got an awesome first name, too.

I've had those hugs; sometimes I think I give those hugs. For me, it has little to do with not liking someone genuinely, it's wariness that they don't really want you hugging them, that I might stink, that they would view it inappropriately, etc.

And, it's a signal of a good passage that it gets me reflecting on my standoffishness.

Good to hear you again!

I do so love listening to your voice. And I'll be hearing it more soon!

I agree with Sylvia - you are really easy on the ear. And I adore the way you say "pie" - so southern...

The piece is full of texture and humidity - you can always move me to another place and time with your words Robin.

I, too, look forward to hearing it in the flesh in July.

I wish I could hear your voice in the flesh (hey Jane said it first) in July!

I had a hug just like that Aunt Sylvie's this morning. I work in a very huggy profession (which is OK with me since it seems to be about 95% populated by women). It's always awkward at first, but some folks just do that air-hug kind of thing.

I'm a hugger; those hugs annoy me (be warned, paca. I'll bear hug you) but the way you described the whole scene was far from annoying. I want to say "lovely" but there's just that edginess to Aunt Sylvie that keeps it off balance.

in a good way! off balance in a good way!

Thanks, you all!

It's been so much fun running around listening to everyone - seriously great idea, Paca honey!

Aerin, I heard the first minute of so of yours, and was really enjoying it, then I tried to go down the page to read along and it kept getting 'stuck'. I have no idea why, so I'll try again tomorrow.

You will have to move house soon, Robin, I think we've seen most of the rooms now. And the hot tub, of course.

Your voice is just perfect for your pieces (which makes sense of course)!

Ha! I have a character named Sylvia in my latest, too. Sadly, I have overlooked such other fine names as Paca, Hedgehog and McKoala.

Lovely details, Rob. For the record, I'm much better at giving and receiving the quick air hugs than the genuine ones.

Looking forward to reading your ms! Soon, right??? ;o)

And, yes, I'm curious as to which room is next on Robin's list. The attic maybe?

Ha, Phoenix! Well, I suppose I could film my bathroom, or maybe the back yard?

I did ask The Blondster if she wanted to sit and read it for the webcam, but she said no.

I'm working on one of the last three chapters today - one of those I couldn't get finished last week, and then I'll send. Thanks!!

Oddly enough, this has inspired me to purchase a ripe juicy melon, cut it in two, and stick my face into one of the halves.

Wonderful!
