What a sad story, but a great reading.

The sound quality wasn't very good on this one, which made me sad, as I *love* your voice, Ril. And were you faking the Scottish accent? Regardless, I could listen to you all day.

Oh, I could hear just enough to know I'd love it. Your voice is so, so wonderful to listen to.

I had a hard time not paying attention to the kind of squeaking background sound, ril - is there a way without driving yourself nuts that you can subtract that out?
If not, I'll listen harder, honey.

(That baby in the picture is beyond precious, by the way.)

Sorry about the terrible sound quality. The room I recorded this in (my office) has a loud air conditioner outlet pumping air into the room, and the crappy microphone I used picks up everything. I used some software to mask out the air conditioner sound, but it's not an exact science and the sequaks and pops in the background are artifacts from the sound subtraction.

I've ordered a better microphone, so next time it'll be a better recording. I hope.

The Scots accent is 100% fake; it's all in the writing: can't read McKoala's words without sounding Scottish.

Oh, by the way, most of the pictures are trawled from the internet, but the baby is my daughter.

Well, she's so beautiful!

And I love that accent - can't wait to see what McK says when she hears it.

Thank you for this Ril! You'll laugh...I found it really hard to understand!!! And weren't you the guy who said that it sounded more Irish to you...

Great job, though. And I love the pretty baby, congrats. And the evocative image at the end. Gorgeous. Off to record yours now. Better late than never.

This is full of character, both in terms of words written and spoken. And you have a cute daughter, Ril.

McK - what a beautiful thoughtful piece. It was a bit of an ear-strain to hear it because my son is blasting out Evanesence and Halo3 in the background here but it was well worth it.

Ril - you did a great job. The images were fab. I particularly loved the cold sterile schoolyard and the poignant empty chair at the end. And as for your daughter - oh my! she's a cutie. Newborn babies are so gorgeous!

'cold, sterile schoolyard' - LOL! All traditional schoolyards in Scotland look like that!

I love your voice! I look forward to the new mike so I can hear its full glory.
